Laddie: A True Blue Story

Wow, this book was so good. Thank you so much, SW, for letting me know about this book!! I loved it, and stayed up late each night reading it!

"I never heard a turkey buzzard sing. Laddie said they couldn't; but that didn't prove it. He said half the members of our church couldn't sing, but they did; and when all of them were going at the tops of their voices, it was just grand. So maybe the turkey buzzard could sing if it wanted to."

"He says it is all rot about 'finishing' your education. You never do. You learn more important things each day, and by the time you are old enough to die, you have almost enough sense to know how to live comfortably. Pity, isn't it?"

"Father said, with her face it didn't make any difference what she wore, and mother said that was just like a man; it made all the difference in the world what a girl wore. Father said maybe it did to the girl, and other women; what he meant was that it made none to a man. Mother said the chief aim and end of a girl's life was not wrapped up in a man; and father said maybe not with some girls, but it would be with Shelley; she was too pretty to escape."

"Mother says the reason gossip is so dreadful is because it is always guesswork."

"Mother and I stood beside the hitching rack and looked after him, with our arms tight around each other while we tried to see which one could bawl the hardest."

"'Father, when you pray for something that it's all perfectly right for you to have, does God come down from heaven and do it himself, or does he send a man like Laddie to do it for him?'
Father hugged me tight, smiling the happiest.
'Why, you have the whole thing right there in a nutshell, Little Sister,' he said. 'You see, it's like this: the Book tells us most distinctly that 'God is love.' Now it was love that sent Laddie to bind himself for a long, tedious job, to give Leon his horse, wasn't it?'
'Of course!' I said. 'He wouldn't have been likely to do it if he hated him. It was love, of course!'
'Then it was God,' said father, 'because 'God is love.' They are one and the same thing.'"

It was a wonderful, lovely book, and I highly recommend it to all of my followers!!

It'll be Another 363 Days 'Til it Comes Again

Wow.
*singing* "It happens in a blink, it happens in a flash, it happens in the time it took to look back"
I hope you guys got that song reference 'cause if you didn't, well.... :P
(I just like this picture. It makes me happy)
I had a pretty good Christmas!
My dad (he's an anesthesiologist) had to work, so he wasn't home in the morning or the afternoon.
No crackling fire, no running down the stairs and ripping open stockings, no shouting "Merry Christmas!"
But he came home around 11:00, so we opened everything then because we knew he'd probably have to go back.
Sure enough, not long after an amazingly delicious lunch of Toad-in-The-Hole and Lemon Bubble-ring he was called in.
But our grandparents came in the afternoon, so that helped to distract from the fact that Dad was gone. :)

For Christmas I got:
serger (!!!)
green and grey plaid button-down shirt
grey and white infinity scarf
$140 (in all)
lego minifigure (from Thomas)
Laddie by Gene Straton-Porter (thanks for the idea, S.W.! I love it!)
pajamas (Christmas Eve)

Yesterday we went to my cousin's house and had a little Christmas party.
We did a White Elephant afterwards and I got this really strange book that I tried reading and really didn't like, so I left it there but felt bad about it afterwards and wish I hadn't :P
(it was called Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and was rather creepy, paranormal, and made me feel dirty.)
Thanks for reading!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!

Merry Christmas--What?!!!

Haha, strange title, right?
Well, I've just been feeling like Christmas really snuck up on me this year.
I mean, I know that it always feels like that
but this year I've been so busy that I didn't get to get excited!

Y'know, lay in bed with the red and green Christmas lights shining through my curtain
and get myself all excited about Christmas and everything that goes with it
and think about all the awesome stuff that happened to me that year
(and push back the stupid memories that come along for the ride...) ;)

Seriously?
I have to set aside time for getting excited??
I don't even have enough time to clean my room
(it's rather messy coughcoughasinterrifyingobstaclecoursedeathtrapcoughcough...yeah...)

I went up to Mission Ridge today (the ski mountain here) to get some more training in.
The instructor that I worked with was surprised that I wasn't going to work many days this week (just two)
and I was just kinda like, "weeeell, I've been rather absent lately...and I for one would like to actually spend time at home, doing whatever I want to. (aka sitting around, playing word games, reading Will's comic books, coughcoughnotpracticingpianocoughcough, and the like...)"

No, I didn't actually say that.
That's just what I was like. :)

Ya' see what I'm sayin'?
Anyway....

We saw The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Friday.
It was not pretty.
I mean, I knew that they were going to change a bunch of stuff
but....but....but....
he cut out nearly all my favorite parts!!!! D':
AND, HORROR OF HORRORS...
KILI AND TAURIEL FELL IN LOVE :O
that was dreadful.

I daresay it was a good movie in itself.
but...but...but....
Gandalf didn't bring the dwarves in two-by-two to Beorn's house...
Bilbo was caught by the spiders...
The elves didn't have parties in the woods that they kept trying to go to...
Bombur didn't fall into a deep sleep...
The ring had LOTR power over Bilbo so he didn't keep it on much...
The necromancer was a huge, boring part....
The elves and orcs chased the dwarves waaaay down the river...
Orcs chased the party the whole way....
Kili, Fili, and a few others were left behind in Laketown...
The dwarves made a huge statue out of melted gold that somehow stayed together for a little while...
and did I mention that Kili and Tauriel FELL IN LOVE??

Does anyone else out there feel my pain????
I barely enjoyed the movie because I was constantly being disappointed or confused...
I mean, there were very few funny parts, too!
And the book is soooo good and clever!!

Why?????
Why, Peter Jackson, why???
Anyway, you can see I have rather strong feelings about this movie.
But don't try to talk me out of it.
I'm not in the mood. :)

*sigh*
Well, I hope you at least somewhat enjoyed this ranty post.
Have a wonderful Christmas!!

and so it ends...

Hello everyone!!
Sorry I left you for so long :)

We went on a ski vacation in Canada for a few days, and I was busy with the play.

Speaking of which, yesterday was the last performance!
It has been soo fun!
I'm sorry it's over, but I'm ready to move on. :)

Here's some pictures that I got:

Sophie and me before the show. I'm in my graduation dance costume and she's in her Martini/musician costume.

My mom and me after the show. I'm in my Miss Andrews costume which was very smart and business-y.

It was a wonderful experience and I'm sorry it's over, but it's rather nice to be done, too. :)

My grandparents on my dad's side came and saw the play yesterday and then came to our house for a delicious spaghetti dinner and presents!
My parents and them went together and bought me a serger which I am super excited about!!
In case some of you don't know, a serger is a sewing machine that makes those nice edges inside of clothes so that they don't fray. It's also really good for sewing stretchy fabrics!
I spent this morning learning how to use it and I can't wait to start doing some real sewing on it!

I hope you all are having a lovely holiday!!

A Post in Order to Post

Hello,
I really want to post but I don't really know what to post about.
Just whatever comes to mind, I guess. :)

The first two performances went really well.
It's a ton of fun.
Bella, the girl who plays Zuzu and who is also Sophie's little sister, was playing with me on Sunday and suddenly said, "I like you!"
It was really cute. :)
Everyone is really nice, even if they're weird sometimes, and I like most of them.
(and by weird I don't mean the fun kind, I mean the makes-you-uncomfortable kind)

The snow here is pretty poor sport.
It's very slight, but is hanging in with our freezing weather!

I've got a cold, so I'm feeling pretty blah. :P
But at least I don't have another performance until Friday.

I made brownies the other day and they are soooo good!
I love chocolate. :)

Well, I think that's the end of the randomness...
Thank you all so much for reading and commenting!

I Confess...

This is a link-up created by the lovely Brittney of Daughter of the King!

As Brittney said, this will be a list of random things about me that I am "confessing" to. :)
Let the madness begin!
______________________________________________

I confess that I never hesitate to eat chocolate. I even made myself feel sick from eating too many homemade chocolate muffins only a few weeks ago.

I confess that when I'm driving at night and a car has been behind me for a long time I start to think that they're following me and create an escape plan (which I never put into action).

I confess that I exaggerate when I'm excited. Afterwards, I always feel like an idiot and wish I had the courage to tell whoever I was talking to how it really is.

I confess that when I turn at the four-way stop near our house I nearly always do it like I'm a lady spy. Y'know, cool head and finger moves while turning the wheel.

I confess that I hate it when someone asks me what I'm baking. I don't know why, it just irritates me.

I confess that my one-inch heel character shoes kill my feet.

I confess that when someone with an accent talks to me I always talk back with a fake accent. Of course, I realize my mistake and hope they don't think I'm mocking them.

I confess that whenever I'm home alone and an energetic song is on I dance around the room like a maniac, singing at the top of my lungs.

I confess that I have never curled, straightened, or hair-sprayed my own hair.

I confess that I once laughed in a guy's face when he said he was gay.

Well, now that you know all my embarrassing secrets, I'll be off!

Snow/Opening Night/Gingerbread

Well, well, well, what have we here?
It couldn't be a post from Christina after a dreadful six days without!

Okay, that was weird.
I guess it was just my way of acknowledging that I haven't posted in nearly a week.

We finally had our first snow!!
But...it's a really tiny bit and it'll prob'ly melt today.

I'm soooo close to being done with school!!
Next week I have to take an English final and finish up Spanish, but I'm done with Precalc!!

Tonight is opening night for It's a Wonderful Life!
Last night was the family dress rehearsal, but somebody *coughcough*mom*coughcough* forgot the camera, so I have no pictures to share. :(
My main outfit is quite pretty, and I've gotten a fair amount of compliments already. :)

Here are some pictures of our gingerbread houses:

Dad and Joe's barn.

Thomas and Mom's sweet shop.

Will's house.

My house!

Thanks for reading!
